Congratulations to the two fifth grade students earning the Physical Education Student of the Year Award at graduation yesterday. These students displayed excellence in athletics, but also excellence in sportsmanship, social conduct, and perseverance. I was happy to present the awards to Triumph and Franklin!
The last days of the school year are here. Fifth graders are promoted to Middle School this afternoon, and I will say goodbye for summer to our students tomorrow at the bus loop. It has been a great year for Hopkins PE. Our students worked really hard to overcome physical, social, and emotional challenges in the gym. We learned our basic motor skills, more complex game strategies, and how to demonstrate sportsmanship, perseverance, and practiced good citizenship. Our Hopkins family supported the PE department through our y-ties fundraiser, Family Fitness Night, Fuel Up to Play 60, and Field Day. We also broke in a new playground, which will serve the health and fitness of our students for years to come. While I am closing up the gym, I am feeling happy and sad, proud and eager to try new things next year. It has been a successful year. Bobcats--Have a great summer break...As always, stay active! See you soon!
Hopkins students had so much fun at Field Day!!! Be sure to check out Hopkinsrocks.com for the full gallery. Photos courtesy of John Devlin.
Students celebrated the last week of regularly scheduled PE for the school year by participating in free choice physical activities. Some of these activities will be featured at field day, so instructional time doubled as practice for Monday.
In ONE WEEK Hopkins students will participate in field day. Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. MONDAY JUNE 8TH=FIELD DAY. See you on the field!
