This week I taught some "crossing the mid-line" activities to classes who had a few extra minutes at the end of P.E. These activities are ones in which a body part crosses over an imaginary vertical line drawn down the middle of the body. For example, touching your right elbow to your left knee would be crossing the mid-line of the body. These skills are considered important for development and can help activate your brain and might even improve writing and reading skills! Students--teach your mid-line activities to the grown up in your house and practice over spring break. Adults--ask your student about crossing the mid-line activities. If your class did not learn about crossing the mid-line activities this week, create your own or search the web for some inspiration. As always, make sure to get adult permission before visiting any websites.
Practice your crossing the mid-line activities over spring break to keep your body moving and your mind sharp! You can also check out the tabs on this blog for April's activity calendar and a fitness board game to play at home.
Enjoy your spring break, Bobcats!
P.S. Take a picture while doing something physically active or while eating a healthy food. Bring it to school after spring break and I will put your picture up on the Fuel Up to Play 60 Wall of Fame!
