Happy Spring Break, Hopkins students and families. I hope you are having a great holiday and spending time with one another.
Be sure to stay active this Spring Break for 60 minutes every day. You don't have to exercise for one hour in a row, you can split up your activity time through out the day. When we return on Monday, classes will continue with foot skills and soccer activities.
Teachers are always talking about "flipping the classroom", that means the students do some of the learning at home before the teacher introduces the lesson. This way students come to class with some background knowledge and can get started on higher level thinking and application. Try to "flip the classroom" this week for P.E. by investigating different ways to dribble, stop, trap, and kick a soccer ball. What is the best way to dribble while keeping the ball close to your body? What can you do to keep the ball from being taken by a defender? When should you pass the ball and when should you keep it?
Here's a picture of first graders using their knowledge to dribble a soccer ball to hold you over until we are back to P.E!
See you all next week for fun and active classes!
